With great regret I have decided to sell this project it is an original new old stock sandrail made by Johnnys Speed and Chrome it is one of a pair that I bought direct from the States in about 1978.As you can see from the pictures the frame comes in two halves and you have to weld it together yourself. When I purchased them I assembled one and used it for quite a few years and then sold it on but never got around to building this one. I contacted Speed and Chrome when they first arrived because I never received any assembly details or plans but the reply was simple – if you needed plans to assemble it then you really shouldn’t be doing it!I accepted that it wasn’t complicated to work out, I think if I remember correctly I used one or two of the long tubes from this one to modify the first one a little but I do have lots of spare tube exactly the same size so no problem there. Having built the first one I can honestly say that of all the cars I have built, and there have been quite a few custom and high performance ones, this one is the one that I enjoyed most and gave the feeling of incredible agility and power. Even though it was a relatively low powered car the power to weight ratio was very good and the off-road capability second to none.If the purchaser wishes I could assemble the frame for cost, the reason I have not done so is because I was having second thoughts about using Volkswagen Beetle parts. I was thinking maybe I would use an engine gearbox and subframe from a front wheel drive in the rear and then devising another way of having front suspension that would give me more travel preferably with coilovers, although the Beetle front end is perfectly adequate for most terrain.I am going to sell it as a kit or project and as you can see from the photos there are many spares and extra parts, some new and some secondhand, I have picked up over the years. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information I am happy to help the new owner with whatever work he or she would like me to do.I build cars, normally classics for a living so I don’t find this type of thing very difficult. My normal rate is 30 per hour. Prefer no Paypal please! Thanks for looking, Keith
